Howdy. Today we will look at some of the first photographs taken of the Monumental Mountains of the Western United States. Furthermore, these remarkable images, dated 1859 through 1874, are stereoscopic, or, Old World Style 3-D.

We will briefly discuss this technology, before diving into the collection of Edward Anthony, the pioneering American Photographer whose images of the west captivated the nation. We will end the video by viewing the 1907 Reading Pagoda in Reading, Pennsylvania.

This massive Old World Japanese style structure sits over 600 feet above Reading on top of Mount Penn. I traveled there for a better view. I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas in the comments down below - Enjoy!
