And with the world gravitating towards electric vehicles, the hybrid Prius seems like just another Toyota misstep, like their attempt to sell us cars using hydrogen fuel cells. | But the Prius’ economical hybrid powertrain has likely saved more than 5 billion gallons of petrol from being burned since it was introduced. Just why did Toyota start looking into hybrids, and are hybrids really a dead end technology?
