How to Pick the Right Spring Compressor and Use it Safely. Picking the right spring compressor can be confusing. Do I need an internal compressor, external, do I have MacPherson struts, what if one style doesn't fit, will both spring compressors work the same?

The answer might be slightly more complicated than you think and this time it really is beneficial to read the instructions. In this video I talk about measuring unsprung length, outer coil diameter, and spring thickness to ensure you are first selecting the correct compressor for your application.

Next I show how each compressor is installed and include an example of how to use an internal spring compressor to remove the stock coil springs on my 1964 Mercury Comet from start to finish.

As a BONUS I show you a quick modification when your spring compressor is too long for your application using a spare piece of pipe.
