In this video excerpt Dr. Bowen describes the major ways for the family ego mass to deal with the immaturity or anxiety within it. There are three overarching ways to do this. Marital conflict is one way of maintaining distance from one another. The second way is dysfunction in one or the other spouse. The third is the projection of the problem to a child.
