One of the most popular philosophies in today's internet world is Stoicism. Its analysis of control/what we can't control helps us overcome the challenges in our lives. While the Bhagavad Gita is a religious text from a different time, it can help solve stoicism's misunderstood paradox.
Specifically, if we don't have control over the external world, how can we pursue the stoic virtue of justice? If we ultimately can't change the world, how can we be a just person?
The Bhagavad Gita provides an answer through the character of Krishna. Krishna says that we should act but not expect the fruits of our actions. If we emotionally detach ourselves from the eventual effects of our actions but still act with a just motivation, we can maintain that mental tranquility that stoicism offers while acting as just people.
