Let's say you go surfing in the morning, and before work and it's the summertime and you stick your board inside your car and you're at work all day, and that board is heating up. And basically, that is one of the worst things you can do for your board. Please, buy a board bag. A board bag will definitely help you maintain your board for a longer time.

What happens, it gets so hot in that car, there's a chance that the fiberglass that's laminated onto the core of the board, onto the core of the blank, it will pop off because of the heat. So that's one of the things you really don't want to do; you don't want to stick your board into your car all day in the hot sun.

The other thing, when you're surfing and let's say somebody hits your board and you get a crack in your board, which is called a "ding", you want to get out of the water right away. Because what happens is once the fiberglass is open and exposing the core of the board, it will suck water up into the board. And so you want to get out of the water right away and you want to get that ding fixed either by a professional that fixes dings or you can do it yourself. But if you don't know about how to work with fiberglass or resin, probably your best thing is to take it into your nearest surf shop and get it done.

The other thing about maintenance is every once in a while you're probably going to want to like take the wax off the top of the board and put a new fresh coat of wax on your board. It really helps with making the board feel new again. It changes the weight and by putting on a new coat of wax you feel like you've got a new board again. And that's pretty much the maintenance of a board.
