Growing up, Mariam Behbehani, DO, had the unique experience of living in two countries. Between her childhood and college education in the U.S., and her adolescence and opportunity to do an elective rotation in Iran for a month, she witnessed global disparities in healthcare firsthand. She became hyper-aware of the importance of both preventive and integrative medicine.
Today, as an Iranian American woman in the U.S. she draws on her experiences in the country, to build strong relationships with her patients, understanding how one’s culture, lifestyle, and social life play a significant role in their overall health.
