López directed the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Ted Malawer. The film is produced by Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter, with McQuiston, Michael Riley McGrath, López and Michael S. Constable serving as executive producers.

Behind the scenes, López collaborated with two-time Oscar-nominated director of photography Stephen Goldblatt (Prince of Tides, Batman Forever, Angels in America), production designer Miren Marañón, editors Kristina Hetherington and Nick Moore, and costume designer Keith Madden. The music is by Drum & Lace.
