This week (okay actually this was a couple months ago) I drove the 2021 Lexus NX300h -- hybrid! And I can't lie, I was pretty excited to see what a hybrid NX was gonna be all about.
Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed by what was effectively a slower and more boring version of an otherwise fun crossover. I really enjoyed my time in both the NX200t and newer NX300 which both feature the same turbocharged 4 banger power-plant.
Here, with a naturally aspirated 2.5L, things were far less sweet... but I can understand that there may be financial incentives that draw people to a hybrid NX.
The good news is that since filming this video, Lexus has not only unveiled an all-new 2022 NX model, but also a proper plug-in hybrid variant -- the NX450h+ which I can only imagine is a massive improvement to almost every issue I had with this 2021 NX300h!
With all that said, the video gives you a more complete sense of my thoughts on this hybrid NX and explains some of the pros and cons in greater depth!
