It is not commonplace that, a book can be wholly dedicated to a prime minister of Japan, yet the book; “The Importance of Shinzo Abe” by Prof. Sanjaya Baru and a panel discussion on that does not feel unusual, taking into account the remarkable legacy of Mr. Shinzo Abe and his pivotal role in strengthening India-Japan relations in the Indo-Pacific. Abe's proactive diplomacy and vision for Japan's influential role in the changing world highlight his initiatives to elevate Japan's status globally and foster partnerships with India and the global South. In tune with Prime Minister Modi's, shared fundamental values and strategic interests, Abe aimed to transform Indo-Japanese relations, recognizing India's integral role in Japan's Asia strategy. His vision, underscored by a strong political lineage and influence, deemed India as a special partner, reflecting his commitment to advancing partnerships with India and the global South.

About The Speakers:
Hiroshi Suzuki: He is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to India. He is an active member of the political party of Shinzo Abe in Japan and worked very closely with him.
Lakshmi Murdeshwar Puri: She is a former assistant secretary-general at the United Nations and the former deputy executive director of UN Women. Prior to her 15-year stint at the United Nations, she served as an Indian diplomat for 28 years.
Suhasini Haidar: She is the Diplomatic Editor of The Hindu, a journalist, and has expertise in foreign relations.
Prof.(Dr.) Ranjana Mukhopadhyaya: She is a Professor at Delhi University, with a demonstrated history of working in the academic industry. Areas of specialization are Japanese studies, East Asian studies, and Buddhist studies.
