My friend has hiked once a month for 42 month straight. to qualify the hike has to be five miles or more in the woods. The neighborhood doesn't count. His streak was in jeopardy due to a torn calf muscle. I devised a plan for him to hike on the C&O Canal from Lock 30, Brunswick, Maryland, north to Lock 31 where the C&O Canal meets the Appalachian Trail on the packed pea gravel using a knee scooter. The hike proved to be more difficult than originally thought, but it was worth the effort. Enjoy!
