This video shows the current progress made on developing a new police laser gun detection and warning system. The system is designed to be low cost easy to build and install, and is intended to complement your existing laser detection capability. In many countries laser jammers are illegal. Laser jammers although providing greater protection are also very expensive to buy and install.

In testing of police laser guns under controlled conditions, we found it was often difficult to determine the vehicles speed in the first zap of laser from the laser gun. It was not unusual to have to get several readings and/or a few seconds of laser pulses to get an accurate speed of the vehicle.

In such instances, detection of the first laser pulse thereby has the potential to give the driver enough warning to prepare, before his actual speed is determined. So in order to increase your chances, it makes sense to try to maximise your laser detection system. Police typically aim for the headlight are and/or the license plate. A single point of laser detection on a windscreen mounted radar detector is therefore often not going to give you the laser sensitivity you really need.
