I recently made a video about commas and a subscriber said they wanted more videos on punctuation.
So, I asked ChatGPT to write a poem about punctuation. It’s not an in depth guide but I thought it was fun. There are eleven types of punctuation that it covers and one of them is one I had never heard of before. See if you can guess what it is.

Here is the poem:

In the realm of words, let's take a look,
At marks that guide, like a captain's book.

The period, simple, brings a sentence to rest,
A full stop, it says, time for a breath.

Commas, like friends, gather closely together,
Separating ideas, but linking forever.

The exclamation mark, with excitement, it screams,
Adding fervor and zest, to the words and dreams.

Colon, the pointer, leads us to a list,
Or reveals an explanation, a linguistic twist.

Semicolon, a hybrid, sits in between,
Joining related thoughts, like a bridge unseen.

Quotation marks, like a hug, hold words with care,
Showing what's spoken, in the air.

Question marks, they inquire, seeking a reply,
A quest for answers, a quest to clarify.

Apostrophes show where letters depart,
In contractions or possessives, they play their part.

Ellipsis, mysterious, leaves much unsaid,
A trail of dots, to thoughts that have fled.

Hyphens link words in compound form,
And dashes β€” like a pause β€” can weather the storm.

Parentheses, asides in whispers they hold,
An extra note, a secret story, unfolds.

So, in this world of punctuation marks,
Each one with a purpose, leaving their marks.

They guide the reader, they give words their grace,
In this intricate dance, they find their place.

In the language's tapestry, they're the thread,
Weaving meaning, where words are spread.

Did you guess which one I had never heard of before? It was Ellipsis. I have seen them before but I didn’t know it had its own name.

As I said this is just a bit of fun and not a full explanation so let me know in the comments which type of punctuation you would like to know more about.
