Abida Parveen, the queen of Sufi singing, is a rarity in the world of Sufi music. The daughter of prominent Pakistani vocalist Ustad Ghulam Haider has a number of albums, compilation appearances, and prestigious world tours, making her by far the most successful Sufi female performer. She received Pakistan's second highest civilian award the Hilal-e-Imtiaz. Her specialism lies in performing musical forms that have been traditionally showcased by men – she sings ghazals and kafis in Urdu, Sindhi, Saraiki, Punjabi and Persian, accompanied by her wider band. Her hypnotic music focuses on themes of spirituality, as each song speaks of praising god. Abida Parveen’s captivating performances made her the "Global Mystic Sufi Ambassador".
An initiative of Sun Foundation; ‘Dhaka International FolkFest’ is a celebration of sheer musical brilliance where myriads of folk artistes from home and abroad perform on a single platform.

আবিদা পারভীন, একজন অনবদ্য সুফি সংগীত শিল্পীর নাম। তার সংগীত ঘরানা ‘সুফিয়ানা কালাম’ হিসেবে পরিচিত। তিন বছর বয়সেই সুফি গানকে ভালোবেসে ফেলেন। বাবা পাকিস্তানের বিখ্যাত শিল্পী ওস্তাদ গুলাম হায়দার, তার হাত ধরেই আবিদা পারভীনের গানে হাতেখড়ি। বিশ্বব্যাপী আবিদা পারভীন অসংখ্য কনসার্টে তার সুরের মূর্ছনা দিয়ে দর্শককে করেছেন মুগ্ধ। পাকিস্তানের দ্বিতীয় সেরা সিভিলিয়ান অ্যাওয়ার্ড ‘হিলাল-ই-ইমতিয়ায’ দ্বারা তাকে ভূষিত করা হয়েছে। আবিদা পারভীন উর্দু, সিন্ধি, সারাইকী, পাঞ্জাবী এবং পারসিয়ান ভাষায় গজল এবং কাফিস গেয়ে থাকেন। তিনি বিশ্বাস করেন সংগীত হলো একটি আধ্যাত্মিক সৃষ্টি আর তার প্রতিটি পরিবেশনায় দর্শক যেন নতুন করে সেই শেকড়ের সন্ধান খুঁজে পায়।
