The 345 acre Oasis Fire in Pinon Hills escaped it's containment Monday evening when a dust devil whipped up embers and carried them across Highway 138 causing the highway to be closed. The fire was in the mop-up stage and many firefighters had already left the area. Some of the residents in the area who thought that they had 'dodged a bullet' suddenly found themselves in danger again. Firefighters rapidly deployed structure protection and the rapid and heavy response limited the spread to an additional 15 acres.
