This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra full-size pickup truck. it took 14 years for the next generation Tundra to finally arrive. It has a brand new look inside and out with new powertrains including a hybrid to go head to head with Ford’s F-150 Powerboost Hybrid. The new Toyota Tundra comes with two powertrains, a 3.5L twin turbo V6 engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission, 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. The second powertrain called i-Force Max, is an electrified 3.5L twin turbo V6 hybrid with 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. No ECVT here, Toyota has gone with a 10-speed automatic transmission optimized for towing and heavy-duty activities, it’s built to withstand heavy use. Double Cab models get a choice of a 6.5-foot bed and 8.1-foot bed. Crewmax models have a 5.5-foot bed or 6.5-foot bed. The Tundra is designed, engineered and assembled in North America. Available rear air suspension and adaptive variable suspension work together to help you tow and haul. Toyota used lightweight high-strength materials to keep weight down and a multi-link rear suspension. TRD Pro grille has a unique and large grille and the only grille that has Toyota spelled out on it. It also has light clearance accents in the grille, which other models don't have. Other trims come with a black, chrome, satin chrome or dark chrome grilles. The rear has the Tundra script written across the back in either black or chrome. TRD Pro. Full LED headlights, LED taillights, LED low and high beams, LED fog lights. TRD Pro has off-road tires with light alloy wheels. Full off-road suspension on the TRD Pro with Fox shocks with multi-link suspension. Side of the box is aluminum but the inside is molten sheet composite which lightweight, long lasting and no rust. Materials can hit it, it won’t deform. Tailgate is assisted to open and spring to close but you have to manually close it.Two different four door layouts are available as well as various bed lengths including, a 5.5 foot bed, a 6.5 foot bed and a 8.1 foot bed. Available panoramic sunroof, leather-trimmed and soft touch materials throughout, heated and ventilated front seats and advanced seating tech that helps the driver’s seat fit like a glove. TRD Brand new interior with specific TRD steering wheel with red inlays, stitched TRD logo and gear knob. SoftTex trimmed seats. 12.3” digital instrument cluster, 14” touchscreen with buttons underneath with a volume knob. Standard 8” touchscreen, Toyota says the system is 5 times faster than the outgoing model.
