The southernmost fjord, the deepest canyon and the highest railway bridge in Europe: Montenegro, the small country on the southeastern Adriatic, is full of superlatives. (By the way, we have also been to neighboring Albania, look here: https://1.ard.de/albanische-alpen?yt=t )

Ramon Babazadeh gets to know the wild beauty of the Balkan state. Smaller than Schleswig-Holstein, Montenegro has five national parks that are home to wolves and bears. And the 13 km long sandy beach of Velika Plaza, just before the border with Albania, is an insider tip among kite surfers. Ramon Babazadeh experiences the coast of Kotor including the natural harbor and the "Blue Cave" from a sailing boat. An adventurous train journey takes him into the high mountains. Here he finds original nature: an enchanted jungle, the largest lake in the Balkans and the crystal-clear Tara, which meanders through a 1,300 meter deep gorge. And again and again hospitable people invite him: to Slivovic, to eat carp, to the campfire.

Port city of Kotor: fjord, fortress and world heritage
Kotor is considered the most beautiful city in Montenegro, and the bay of the same name is known as the southernmost fjord in Europe. Ramon Babazadeh has the best view of the World Heritage Site from the Sveti Ivan Fortress and the almost 2,000-year-old city walls. In the alleys of the idyllic old town, he finds out why Kotor is also considered the capital of cats.

An adventure: by train to the high mountains
Ramon Babazadeh takes a slow train from the coastal town of Bar to the high mountains to Kolasin in the north: on the way he passes 107 tunnels, 106 bridges, the Ostrog rock monastery and the highest railway bridge in Europe: the Mala Rijeka Viaduct is 200 meters high and 500 meters long . The journey really turns into an adventure when he switches to the locomotive.

Natural wonders and bears in national parks
Durmitor Park is the largest of the country's five national parks. Right in the middle: the Tara Gorge – almost 80 kilometers long, around 1,300 meters deep. It is considered the longest and deepest gorge in Europe. It is named after the 140 km long Tara, which is popular with rafting fans because of the many rapids. Ramon Babazadeh explores the Biogradska Gora, the second oldest national park in the world, with a ranger. He shows him quiet glacial lakes, one of the last primeval forests in Europe and the feeding ground for the brown bears that live in the park.

Ramon Babazadeh - new to the Beautiful Moderation Team
Ramon Babazadeh was always adventurous. As the TV presenter of the SWR travel program "Expedition in die Heimat", he discovers unknown places and idyllic landscapes in the southwest and meets exciting people here. Now he is looking forward to traveling through Germany and Europe for "Wonderful" and to strengthening the moderation team with Tamina Kallert, Judith Rakers, Anne Willmes and Daniel Aßmann.
