The latest DCU series Peacemaker, created by James Gunn, premiered on HBO Max and Crave on January 13 and is already receiving acclaim for its unique aesthetic and sense of humour. Spearheading that unique aesthetic is DGC Ontario Production Designer Lisa Soper, who is responsible for creating the realistic-yet-stylized look and feel of Peacemaker. After starting her career in animation and working her way up through the live-action Art Department, Lisa has designed high-profile series and features in the UK, Europe and across Canada, including Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, The Blackcoat’s Daughter, and Closet Monster.

We chatted with Lisa through Zoom about wordbuilding, the importance of attention to detail, designing ugly hotels, the inspiration behind Peacemaker’s car, and more.
