In this video, we will be talking about the 2022 Toyota BZ4X and the Subaru Solterra! So clearly, you don't want to miss out on this, and so, without further ado, let's start with today's video.

The month of June of 2019 was an exciting time because we all got to see the first close look at how Subaru and Toyota plan to work together to develop an electric car platform called the "e-TNGA."
Now, after 2 years, Subaru is officially joining the electric automobile game by announcing a brand new SUV concept based on the platform that the company worked with Toyota to produce. Subaru has revealed its first pure-electric car, an SUV called the Solterra, which shares its mechanics and so many body panels along with the new 2022 Toyota BZ4X.
As part of a broader partnership that includes the GR 86 and BR-Z, these two automobile brands are also working closely to co-develop a pair of electric crossovers: the Subaru Solterra and the Toyota bZ4X.
The Solterra shares a platform with the Toyota bZ4.The Toyota bZ4X offers one optional feature that made headlines.
The Solterra will feature an all-wheel-drive system with Subaru's world-renowned "X-Mode" feature. The Toyota bZ4X can include a steering yoke instead of a traditional steering wheel like Tesla models. Toyota made a point to offer the futuristic-looking and minimalistic steering wheel.

Both these models present a 71.4kWh battery beneath the vehicle's floor, which Subaru estimates will supply approximately 329 miles of range based on the WLTC standard in Japan. And the all-wheel-drive version will get a 286 mile-range.
When the battery is running low, the Subaru Solterra can support DC fast charging up to about 150kW, although Subaru did not estimate how long it would take. But when compared, Toyota has stated that their new BZ4X, which is built on the same EV platform.
The bZ4X will be offered in single and dual-motor flavors.
According to Toyota, the all-wheel-drive model is capable. The bZ4X will also come with a 64.0-kWh battery pack.
Unlike the BZ4X, though, the Subaru Solterra appears to have a standard steering wheel and interior. Toyota is also including an optional steering yoke in its electric SUV.

Subaru and Toyota have previously claimed their joint electric vehicles will play to both brands' strengths. The SUV twins will combine Toyota's experience with their new electric technology and Subaru's four-wheel-drive and off-road expertise. However, compared with the Toyota bZ4X, Subaru aims for even more handling stability and safety with the Subaru Solterra.
So, the dual-motor Solterra also comes with an X-Mode AWD drivetrain setting, which Subaru states was designed for rough roads. The finished Solterra has also adopted some of the bold styling cues from the EV concept car unveiled earlier this year.

Moving forward, the Subaru Solterra will feature a driving mode that is tough for any other automaker to replicate: X-Mode. X-Mode is Subaru's all-wheel-drive control system that allows Subaru vehicles to adapt to the most treacherous driving conditions.

When looking at the interior, the Solterra is similar to the Toyota bZ4x.

The most significant difference between the two EVs is their respective histories. Toyota and Subaru may have partnered together, but they hardly produce the same type of SUVs.
Toyota produces SUVs like the Toyota RAV4. The compact RAV4 is reliable, affordable, safe, and fuel-efficient.
Subaru is unlikely to deviate from the style of SUVs it currently produces with the 2023 Subaru Solterra. And despite sharing a platform, it seems that Subaru and Toyota are targeting completely different audiences.

Well, guys, that is all we have for you today!
