C.O. of the Special Forces Camp at Plei Me, who found that being under siege by the NVA and VC forces was impressive sight, by the discipline they demonstrated which took place between October 19 - 25, 1965. This attack was the precursor that lead up to the Battel for the IA Drang Valley. Major Beckwith gives the reporters a short briefing of the conditions in which he describes the first confrontations of the War between the PAVN Forces and the American Special Forces Group who occupied the old French Fort.

Strength of PAVN forces in the attack, just under 4,200 Soldiers, while the 12 US Soldiers of the 5th SFG and 450 RVN Soldiers which totaled 462, with an Armored Colum that reinforced the outpost with 1,400 RVN Combat troops held their position.

The Major tells the reporter of the great respect he has for the VC Forces that he and his men fought off. He talks about the condition in the Camp in which they defended when this action took place.
