Pontiac, now dead and gone, was once a premier performance car brand in America, unleashing monsters on the streets like the GTO and Trans Am with V8 power and awesome looks. While Pontiac built a reputation with those incredible models, the Oil Crisis hit, and the brand slipped to relative mediocrity through the '90s. As a result, things didn't get better for Pontiac, which was shuttered in order to save GM from bankruptcy in 2010.
This was largely due to the release of some truly mediocre or even terrible models - like the Aztek. But, one popular model that stuck around with the brand was the Grand Prix, originally introduced in 1962 as a powerful, full-size personal luxury car, and turned into a rather average economy car by its later years.
