2020’S supernatural horror thriller film, The Empty Man, is quite an interesting take on the horror genre. The philosophical route is a very unusual path for horror to take but The Empty Man goes down that rabbit hole. The movie was written, directed, and edited by David Prior and he based his story off of a graphic novel of the same name by Cullen Bunn and Vanesa R. Del Rey.
If you know about the Law of Attraction and manifestations, you will find the concept of this movie quite interesting. According to the Law of Attraction, you can manifest your life by rewiring your subconscious thoughts. It doesn’t work exactly that way in the movie, but it is definitely cool and you have to keep watching this video to find out about it.
The movie is equal parts philosophy and mystery. Paul has an unpleasant experience with a spirit while hiking in Bhutan with his friends finds himself in a state of comatose. His girlfriend kills the rest of the group and then herself. The movie then skips to its next part where ex-detective James investigates the case of his friend Nora’s missing daughter. He goes on to discover a secret cult that worships The Empty Man and in the end, an interesting plot twist reveals James’ unusual origin.
The movie stars James Badge Dale as James, Marin Ireland as Nora, Sasha Frolova as Amanda, Samantha Logan as Davara, and Aaron Poole as Paul.
