For more than two years, BMW has been teasing us with promises of its i4 electric sedan - a fast, sleek 4-series style ride that would compete against the best and most expensive high-performing mid-size sedans out there.... internal combustion and electric.

But despite years of teasing, lots of pre-reveal test footage and more, the car's ultimate reveal today felt like a damp squib. The lack of information given during BMW's annual conference felt like the brand was perhaps even embarrassed by it.

And it left us wondering just what lies in BMW's future.
