Each year, around 8,000 candidates from all over the world come to the Foreign Legion selection center in Aubagne, in the Bouches-du-Rhône. Whatever their background, origin or religion, these candidates, aged 17 to 40, have the opportunity to start a new life thanks to the Legion. But one in ten will be retained. From their selection to the famous march of the white kepi, a formidable 50 kilometer endurance test, recruits have been followed. For four months, the recruits will learn to speak French, to fight and to surpass themselves. Some will take swimming lessons. The teams also accompanied the paratroopers of the 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (REP) during a major airborne operation.
