How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're gonna take a look at the Kat NV 2.0 on our 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. Now this is gonna be more specific for your 1500 Sierra. If you want a little bit more in depth on the rack itself, we do have a full review, but this is just gonna be how it interacts with the back of the truck and some key features. The NV 2.0 is a wheel-mounted bike carrier, so that means it's not gonna make any contact with the frame, just at the front and rear wheel. The capacity for this is super solid. So it's gonna work for your super light road bikes that have carbon fiber frames with the no contact, as well as going all the way up to your 60-pound E-bikes.

So it's gonna cover bases across a wide variety. And another really cool feature is the fact that it has an included repair stand as well. One of the key features that I like about the NV 2.0 is the fact that it is a wheel-mounted carrier. So it's gonna secure your bike by the rear wheel using this cradle strap, and you're gonna have a front hook that's gonna keep your bike secure while not making any contact with your frame. So that works really well for your carbon fiber bikes or specialty frames, maybe like a step-through to work to keep it safe.

Another thing that's really cool about it is the fact that it's a super capable carrier. So even if going from the other end for those really light road bikes, it'll work up to 60 pounds for your E-bikes and those heavy-duty mountain bikes. So it's gonna work really well for that, covering everything in between. Another really cool feature is the repair stand, but I'm gonna have to flip up the carrier to show you that. So I'm gonna take our bike off and we'll take a look.

So with our bike removed, we can get a closer look at some of the features as far as how it reacts with the back of our vehicle. Overall, at our closest point, we're right at 10 inches from the bumper here. I noticed that. If you lower your tailgate, you actually make contact with the carrier itself. So unload it, you can definitely see that it's not gonna be a thing that you can access without making contact with the bed.

You're just gonna have to reach over to access anything. All right, let's fold this guy up and we can see the feature I was referring to, a repair stand that allows you to make those quick on-the-trail repairs when you're out there on the road. Really great feature, really cool add-on from Kat. And folded up, we're right at 17 inches to the rear of the vehicle, and overall, right at 33. A ground clearance, the lowest point, you're right at 16 and a half inches, but you want to keep in mind, if you have heavier E-bikes, your suspension may settle a little bit. So just be cautious going up steep inclines and driveways. In the folded position, you can see that your tail lights are still unobscured as well as your backup camera, but your license plate definitely is blocked out. So you just wanna kind of plan accordingly to the rules in your area. As far as the upper part of your MultiPro Tailgate, if you we inchesre to open that, you make contact again with the carrier. So that's all personal preference, if you don't mind that contact of grabbing the back of your vehicle if you have a tonneau cover, but just to be aware of how it interacts with the back of the truck. So again, this is Ed here with etrailer.com taking a look at the Kat NV 2.0 on the back of a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. Have a great day.
