In Islam, Ramadan, the ninth month of the lunar calendar, is the holiest month of the year.
Here are 5 facts about Ramadan:
1- Ramadan is the month of fasting for Muslims.
2- All able-bodied adults are obligated to fast during Ramadan, with exceptions for those who are pregnant, menstruating, seriously ill, or traveling (missed fasts must be made up at a later date).
3- Muslims fast to attain Taqwa (God-Consciousness), self-discipline and patience.
4- Ramadan is a month of celebration and community bonding for over 1.7 billion Muslims all over the world.
5- The month of Ramadan ends with the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.
