It was the first Candidates appearance for R. Vaishali as she came to Toronto. She started slowly and after 9 rounds was in the last position with 2.5/9. Little did she know what was in store for her. She scored 5.0/5 and finished joint 2nd with 7.5/14 at the Candidates.
