Synopsis:
The true story of Ivan Sanchin, the KGB officer who was Stalin's private film projectionist from 1939 until the dictator's death. Told from Sanchin's view, the sympathetic but tragically flawed hero maintains unwavering faith in his "Master" despite the arrest of his neighbors and his involvement with their daughter, his wife's affair with the chilling State Security chief Lavrentii Beria and her tragic decline, and the deadly political machinations within the Kremlin he witnesses firsthand.

"This is drama of the century, calling back to Soviet Russia, when it was at the peak of the namesake "U.S.S.R.", the politics, the regime, the draconian dictatorship, and the oppression, all in full regalia. The drama is set on the crux of one professional Projectionist, as they had those during the 1940's in the USSR, and the life of this Projectionist, who happens to become an official in the Soviet Regime. Said party is kindly, profound, and vaguely innocent, seeing all of the incredible political carnage, intrigue, and terror; the theme follows that path, so you get an understanding of the USSR, Stalin, social conditions within communism, and you get a dramatic feel for it. This is an overall excellent movie, with superb acting, and the premise is based on studious fact."
