Do you register your bee yard? In my State, registering as a beekeeper is mandatory. I look forward to having visits from the Bee Inspector as he's a great source of information. When the State Inspects your Bees, this is the process.

Beekeeping, Apiary Inspection Start to Finish; If you are raising honey bees in the State of Pennsylvania, you are required to register with the State Dept. of Agriculture. This also places you on the inspection list.
Every few years, I get an inspection and am always happy to see the inspector as it's an opportunity for learning about bees in the State as well as evaluating your own apiary.
Over the years, I have transitioned to survivor bees... these are honey bees kept without the advent of any medications which protect them from environmental or parasitic issues.
The practice is to allow sick colonies to die out and reproduce bee lines that prove successful.
This inspection process as shown is just some sideline discussions as we uncover the bees in each of my hives.
I thought it may be interesting to post the inspection process so others know what to expect when an inspector arrives on your property.
All hives must be capable of thorough inspection... removable lids and accessible frames. It's all a big part of keeping the honey bee healthy in the U.S.
Diseased hives may threaten the population of honey bees for miles around, inspection is very important to identify potentially threatening conditions.
