This week's top stories of the week include:

15 EU law fights forced labour – The law is called the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). EU nations just backed it after prolonged debates. It will require large companies to assess their supply chains and prevent, mitigate or remedy any impacts on people and the planet. Ranging from slavery, and forced or child labour to greenhouse gas emissions and ecosystem damage.

41 Shipping slows to reduce emissions – Slow steaming involves ships cutting their speed to conserve fuel. It began in the early 2000s as a response to rising bunker fuel prices. Since its inception, slow steaming has evolved beyond a cost-cutting measure. It is now seen as a way to make shipping more sustainable.

36 Switzerland: World's talent hub – Switzerland has been named the world's most talent-competitive country according to INSEAD, a prestigious business school. This ranking is based on a country's ability to train, attract, and retain workers. Experts attribute this success to several factors.

17 Cocoa's climate price hike – The cost of cocoa beans, chocolate’s key ingredient, skyrocketed past $10,000 a tonne on 26 March. That’s more than double the price of cocoa 2 months ago and more than triple a year ago. The driving cause is changing weather patterns. Heatwaves and drought have affected harvests in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire, which together produce two-thirds of the world’s cocoa crop.
