Now Episode 9 is called Forgetting Sarick Morshall which is clearly based on the film Forgetting Sarah Marshall. That film was about a man getting over a breakup and this is mirrored in the entry when we watch Rick and Morty go their separate ways. The creative team said that they really wanted to ask who was Rick without Morty

The pairs relationship has always been a pretty strained one throughout the series and this season especially has seen them going off and doing their own thing quite a lot.

This idea of the pair doing things on their own is hammered home early on when we see Morty traveling through several dimensions and fixing the destruction that Rick caused there.

We see him with a full list and this includes Water City, Spider-bot, Lava Crystal, Tip Jar, Cookie Freedom, Nuclear worm, return conch, bean hordes and Moon Gremlin.

Where we start is Cookie Land which could be based on the iphone game, though it's pretty generic of a setting. It may also be a nod to Sugar Rush Speedway from Wreck It Ralph but sometimes yeah, sometimes I just have no idea what I'm talking about. Gonna be completely honest with you.

Anyway we find out there's been a military coup and that the insurgents are about to execute the president live on TV. I'm not touching this with a ten foot barge pole right now as Youtube will slam the yellow icon down but Luckily Morty saves the day.

From here he travels to another dimension with a damm that has a massive hole in it. You might notice that it's the same shape as Rick's ship and Morty helps out before venturing to a beach planet that's being attacked by a giant lava monster.

I feel like this is a nod to Moana as at the end of that movie we watch as the heroes have to defeat a giant lava God called Te Ka.

The inhabitants say that the monster appeared after it's Gem went missing and this is a nod to the heart of Te Fiti from the aformentioned movie.

When arriving back home, Morty quickly he realises that Rick has started to suspect this independence as he notices that the portal fluid tube has been marked.

Morty quickly tries to cover it up by mixing in what's left with some lime juice and it reminds me of when I was a teen and I took a bottle of vodka from my parents to go to a party with.

Drank most of it because when you're 15 you can handle it straight for some reason and came home and then filled it with water. Hey presto they never found out or got drunk again but Morty gets caught out by the gun detecting weird fluid inside of it.
