Boulderblast2021 organized by @andrej_capko @zavaky @tatrybouldering was truly a blast. Probably what I enjoyed the most was meeting new climbing community members and being surrounded by like minded individuals. The first day we all met at Popradske Pleso and then together we hiked up to one of the three bouldering areas called “Pod Satanom”. The rock quality was pure bliss and I enjoyed shuffling through the newly printed guidebook as I was on a quest to climb the most boulders possible in the 2 climbing cz days. Thanks for the photos and support @waterlemonrea. I always wanted to go to this event but was never around so I am glad things aligned and that @waterlemonrea and I got to go. It was a lot of hiking up and down and driving as we were housed in Stary Smokovec. To drive from there to the parking lot and then walk the 5km long paved approach to the hut + further 3-4km approach to the rock with a full backpack and Boulder pad was a warm up in itself 🤣 but that was all part of what made the experience special. Waking with new fellow climbers and hitching a rider here and there. At the end of the first day I had 22 boulders in my pocket ranging from 5 to 6c+. I wasn’t going for strength but for endurance (not that I am that strong of a climber compared to the young guns 💪). I think I had in me me more than 22 for the first day BUT I was balancing a delicate scale of 1. Having fun 2. Climbing and 3. Enjoy the company of my wife and friends. Having a balance in everything is key. At the end I ended up climbing 47 boulders in two sessions. Not bad for not knowing the area and for having to locate boulders (that took up most of the time). I ended up getting first place for the most boulders climbed :) YAY! We all then wrapped up a great weekend with a fun party.
