This featured research symposium explored the recent advances in neuroscience as it relates to the Brain Initiative and the future of brain science. Dr. John Ngai, Director of the NIH Brain Initiative, explored the current state and future plans for the Brain Initiative. Dr. Michelle Jones-London, Director of the NIH's Office of Programs to Enhance Neuroscience Diversity, discussed broad experiences and perspectives on neuroscience training as it relates to the changing landscape of the field. Dr. Xiaowei Zhuang, Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator and Professor at Harvard University, discussed experiences and opportunities for technology transfer and commercialization related to neuroscience. The session was moderated by Dr. Xiangmin Xu, Professor and Director of the Center for NEural Circuit Mapping at UC Irvine.
