One of the best things we did with our last Tesla Model Y was to install a DIY precut kit from 3M. This time we have teamed up with Drive Protected Shop to install another DIY kit, this time from Xpel.

Installing a PPF kit on a Tesla Model Y, or any Tesla for that matter, is not a super easy process. That said, you stand to save a boat load of money if you are willing to give it a try!

For best results, ensure your slip and slick solution are properly mixed, and make sure to keep the film wet until you are ready to lay the material down permanently. Start with the A Pillar at the front and work towards the back. Get the PPF material right at the edge where the trim is. For the doors, start on one top corner, then the bottom corner on the same side. Then go to the other top corner and the following bottom corner.

Make sure to use your tac solution to secure corners down while you work each panel. The more light the better for helping to find and remove debris and moisture from under the film.
