From the time capsule - March 2020 - Despite the store closings, the stay-at-home orders and the abandoning of so many of our work-a-day routines in the United States, the severity of the Coronavirus Pandemic of 2020 didn't really sink in for me until the last week in March when, through various forms of media, I heard a few poignant, yet urgent voices of people dealing with this deadly disease firsthand.

Their humanity broke through all the clutter and the back-and-forth about who was to blame, how long should we stay at home, when will things get back to normal? In one week, a few voices broke through all that and brought clarity to my mind and empathy to my heart.

Amid the growing panic, I heard voices of hope and reason. The words of these individuals dealing with a mounting crisis, each in their own way, compelled me to bring them together to share with you, in case you didn't hear what I heard the last week of March 2020.

As a student of history, I also added a more distant voice as a preamble to the others - a voice which still echoes through time from one generation to next inspiring us as much now as it did when Americans first heard it, so youthful and full of life.
