Today I change a worn-out receptacle for a new one. The old receptacle was installed with the grounding prong toward the top but sometimes the prong is facing downwards. Does it matter? There is often some closely-held opinions (and arguments presented) about which way the grounding prong should face. What does the National Electrical Code (NEC) state? Let's get started...
