This 1990 Bobcat 743 was purchased by a friend about two years ago with bad axle bearings and seals on the right side. We replaced the right side bearings and seals at that time. This Spring the left rear axle bearings gave out and he continued to use it until the bearings were turned into little pieces of metal. Some damage was done to the axle tube and the axle, I welded the tube as best as possible, and the axle will probably be ok. The access in the chain case is VERY limited for the rear axle, the front is not too bad.
This is a pretty difficult job, it took me about 10-12 hours, and I would not do it again
