Kia's been moving up at a relentless pace in recent years, and just when you think they're satisfied, they build something like the full-size 2015 Kia Cadenza sedan. The midsize Optima has already shown that Kia can build a world-class family sedan, but the Cadenza plays with the big boys, including such well-established models as the Chevrolet Impala and Toyota Avalon. Tough crowd, right? We were skeptical, too, but here are five reasons why the new Cadenza really won us over.
Classy Styling
The Cadenza certainly looks the part of a premium sedan. That's no surprise; Kia's president used to run the design team at Audi, and you can see German influence in the Cadenza's subtle, sophisticated lines. We especially like the Audi-inspired LED running lights in the front and rear. Look beyond the Kia badge, and you'll see some real beauty in the Cadenza.
Strong V6 Performance
Kia limits the Optima to 4-cylinder engines, but the Cadenza is under no such restrictions. Motivation comes from a 3.3-liter V6 engine that pumps out a robust 293 horsepower. Benefiting from such cutting-edge technologies as direct fuel injection, the Cadenza's V6 has a serious sense of urgency when you press go. Luxury-sedan shoppers want confident power, and the Cadenza undoubtedly delivers. We'd even call it genuinely fast, and that's not something you hear often in relation to to Kia's lineup.
True Luxury Ride
The Cadenza handles surprisingly well in spirited cornering, but under normal circumstances, it's the luxurious ride that takes center stage. This Kia is luxurious in the traditional sense, providing a pillow-soft ride that eats up highway miles and isolates you from impacts and noise. Comfort-oriented shoppers will quickly warm to the Cadenza's compliance, since it's a refreshing antidote to the firm, sporty rides in vogue these days.
Well-Equipped Cabin
The Cadenza is mighty convincing inside, too, presenting upscale form and function in equal measure. Standard features include an 8-inch touchscreen, a 550-watt Infinity stereo, leather upholstery and even push-button start. Plus, the materials are generally high quality, and that's key in this segment. If you're thinking the Cadenza couldn't possibly be as nice inside as the Avalon, think again. It might be even nicer.
Huge Back Seat
You may have heard that Kia is the official automaker of the NBA, and true to form, the Cadenza's enormous rear quarters could easily accommodate a pair of power forwards without issue. Headroom and legroom are more than generous, giving the Cadenza a VIP feel from the second row. In other words, the Cadenza is luxurious for all occupants, front and rear, unlike some similarly priced European sport sedans. Why cram into a compact or midsize luxury car's back seat when you could be lounging in the back of a Cadenza?

The more time we spent with the 2015 Kia Cadenza, the harder it was to find anything wrong with it. Kia's been moving up for a while now, and its Cadenza is a crown jewel well worth considering.
