Volkswagen has officially unveiled the new Taigo SUV Coupe in the European market. This crossover is basically the re-badged version of the VW Nivus, which is on sale in Brazil. The Volkswagen Taigo is based on the MQB AO platform that also underpins the T-Cross. The Volkswagen Taigo looks identical to the Brazilian-spec Nivus Coupe-SUV. However, it comes with revised front fascia to keep things fresh in the market. The Taigo has different looking bumper, new LED lighting that runs across the grille, and the design is inspired by the new Taos mid-sized SUV. The SUV-Coupe’s front grille, headlamps with full LED lighting and lower bumper seems identical to the Nivus. Volkswagen’s new SUV-Coupe is offered in two engine options – a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol. The 1.0L engine offers two states of tunes – 95bhp and 110bhp, while the 1.5L engine churns out 147bhp of power. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG.
