We visited "Desi Canteen" Indian Street Food stall in Cannon Mills Snday Market, can you believe that we bought 3 samosas, 6 pakoras & 2 mint sauces for only £5.60

In these current times of financial hardship it makes sense to tell you of places such as this place, which are serving up very affordable, filling Indian food.

It does not get any better, cheaper or delicious than this...

VEG PAKORA RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
* Onion (Dungri)
* Potato (Bateta)
* Spinach (Palak)
* Besan / Gram flour (Chickpea Flour)
* Water (Pani)
* Red Chilly
* Herbs & Spices (chef's secret)
* Crushed Coriander Seeds (Dhana)
* Salt (Namak)
* Oil for frying (Tel)
Once they are deep fried they are served piping hot with a Mint Sauce.

POTATO SAMOSAS RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
* Plain Flour Pastry
* Potato
* Onion (Dungri)
* Chillies
* Green Coriander
* Salt
* Herbs & Spices

SAMOSA CHAAT RECIPE:
* Freshly fried Samosa
* Chana Masala
* Cucumber
* Red Onion
* Spicy Chaat Sauce
* Homemade Chutney
* Tamarind Sauce
* Chaat Masala

Pakoras, Samosas & Samosa Chaat are a very common street food in India and Pakistan, they are a very popular menu item at most roadside stalls as well as restaurants.

Watch the "Master Pakora Makers" making 100's of Bhajias; they makes it all look very easy, but it takes many years of practice and skill to get to this level of cooking.

As you probably know by now, we absolutely love secret places like this, a place serving delicious restaurant quality, home cooked food; but at very affordable street food prices!!!

It's a place which reminds us of the Indian Subcontinent's pavement kitchens' that provide sustenance for its many inhabitants with the cheapest and tastiest of freshly made food anywhere. Reminding us of the street characters who create food that is blessed by hand and human touch and further energised and charged by positive thoughts.

You can go many times to India and love it every moment of your time spent there, (but you're always sad in the knowledge that India only exists in India and nowhere else) the sights you see, the sounds you hear, the people you meet; all serve to feed you not just physically but also emotionally and spiritually. So when we come across a place such as this; we humbly raise our hat and take a bow because we have not only just got a snack but we've also been given a taste of back home.

This is one of Bradford's secret Punjabi Dhaba style food venues - which is situated in the Cannon Mills Sunday only market.

It's in a very basic setting but that does not detract from the delicious Indian & Pakistan "Street Style Food" being conjured up by these guys.

Our trip to Bradford is not complete if we don't make a visit to Cannon Mills Market and if you like Pakoras then this video is especially for you.

You can catch "Desi Canteen" every Sunday at the ever popular Cannon Mills Sunday Market, its a market baazar which offers Asians a little taste of "back home" right in the heart of Yorkshire (in North England) and so is especially popular with Pakistani, Indian and Asian visitors alike.
