Migration forecasts and Lights Out alerts are conservation tools that you may have heard of over the past few years. They can also be great tools for bird watchers. But what are they and what do they tell us? Are there really millions of birds flying overhead as we sleep and how to we understand the colorful migration maps? Join Director of Conservation Adam Betuel as he breaks down the migration forecast for the last few days of April, outlines why and how birds migrate (including at night), explains the perils of artificial light at night, and dives into the field of aeroecoloy (the study of ecological activities in the air). Adam will also share how this information helps guide Georgia Audubon’s conservation work and how it can be used to enhance your birdwatching outings!
