The 380 men of the 147th New York Infantry suffered heavy casualties west of the town of Gettysburg on July 1, 1863. They would retire through the town and help defend the wooded slopes of Culp's Hill for the remainder of the battle. During the 155th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, numerous living history volunteers came together to retrace the steps of the 147th New York to help tell their story to a new audience.
