In 2021, Nissan added a new Leaf to its electric car range, the e+.

Positioned above the standard Leaf, the e+ boasts peppier performance from a more potent electric motor, as well as a significant step-up in driving range thanks to a larger battery.

On the outside, there is nothing differentiating the two though, with the Leaf e+ featuring 17-inch wheels and a small hatchback body style.

Key to the Leaf e+’s appeal though, is its 160kW/340Nm electric motor that drives the front wheels and 62kWh battery that enables up to 385 kilometres of driving range. Not quite as much as a Tesla Model 3 or Tesla Model S, nor the new Kia Niro EV or Hyundai Kona Electric. But it is more than before, and betters the MG ZS EV by quite a bit, too.

But to see how it stacks up in the real world, News Editor Tung Nguyen spent a week with the new electric vehicle (EV) to see if the Leaf e+ is the right model to get you into tailpipe emissions-free motoring.
