CHARGING AT EDAG
Inductive charging not just for electric vehicles. Now that the "LaneCharge" research project has been successfully concluded with the event in December 2023, we are identifying further areas of application for inductive charging.

As part of the research project, we have developed an innovative process for inductive charging of electric vehicles and applied for a patent. In previous solution to inductive charging, the charging intelligence is located in the vehicle. However in our system, the technology is installed in the road surface and is therefore simpler and more robust.

Inductive charging offers the advantage that e-vehicles can be charged in future without manual intervention by the driver. There are numerous opportunities: When parking, at traffic lights, at home in the garage – wirelessly, at recurring small intervals and with the same technology in both public and private spaces.
This technology is also transferable to other applications, and we see great potential for the use of this technology in intralogistics in particular. Convenience and automation potential play an important role here.

The project results were presented for the first time on the grounds of Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts: wireless charging is possible on up to 12 induction coils on a test track of over 90 metres.
We would like to thank all the project partners involved: Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Braunschweig University of Technology and SUMIDA Components & Modules. NOW GmbH was responsible for coordinating the project, which was funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs (BMDV) and implemented by Project Management Jülich (PtJ).
