Spring is always such a changeable, but also beautiful, season in Orkney.
This year we’ve had our fair share of wild weather, but there have been long, lingering days of sunshine too. And then, during May, everything suddenly bursts into life and there are green fields as far as the eye can see.
It’s an excellent time of year for wildlife watchers too with many species making an appearance, including the return of our puffin population, plenty of seabird activity, and just one or two surprises you might not expect.
Local wildlife filmmaker and photographer Raymond Besant has spent the last few months documenting just some of the colourful characters that can be seen across the islands during the spring months.
