Some highlights of Puerto de la Cruz which was the first tourist centre in Tenerife even as far back as the 19th century.
It enjoys a dramatic location on the edge of the lush and green Orotava valley and is a good choice for the more discerning tourist. Compared to the Costa Adeje resorts , Puerto is far more spanish , has a great range of authentic restaurants and cafes, and has easy access to some of the interesting towns and village in the Orotava valley. The only real issue is that in the winter period the weather is a bit cooler and more inconsistent than in the south west of the island.
