For being the most majestic, fascinating part of the Second Age of Middle-earth, I felt the show drag it's feet the most when we were on the island kingdom. However, visually it was a spectacle to behold, and musically it is one of the best themes in the entire series. Inspired by Middle Eastern cultures, the instrumentation is of a sound palette completely different to the rest of the show's library. McCreary stated he wanted the theme of Númenor to be so unique and different from the rest of the show, and so when we watch the original trilogy and the sound palette is absent, we FEEL it's loss. The theme is not only royal and grand, but also has a large amount of heart and uncertainty to it. When Númenor's political wellbeing is threatened, whether by Ar-Pharazon or other factors, it sounds mischievous and gloomy, or when Tar Miriel is blinded or conflicted it sounds frail and somber. But the score shines with it's militant percussive beat, it's tambourines and choral phrases, strums of Middle Eastern stringwork, creating a powerful, roaring anthem the likes of which have never been seen by Middle-earth. They may be gone, but their reign and legacy with forever be untarnished. That is unless they succumb to the darkness brewing under the surface, soon to fester after the death of Ar-Palantír. The battle for Númenor's soul will likely rage on in the show's musical score, as it already has, creating one of the most beautiful, triumphant, and spectacular themes in the musical history of The Lord of the Rings.
