Anne Frank is such a well-known story, but it bears re-telling, particularly in difficult times. In this talk I try to fill in some of the background to life as a Jew during those terrible years of National Socialism. This puts in context the situation Anne and her family/friends found themselves in when they hid themselves away in their tiny Annex in Amsterdam. This talk was part of the guest enrichment programme on a Viking Ocean Cruises (www.vikingcruises.com) voyage which included Amsterdam in its itinerary. In this time of 'lockdown' it seems appropriate to me that viewers might put their current lack of freedom in to perspective by learning about Anne Frank, the context of the world she lived in, and the help and support she received from loyal and brave friends. The talk is non-profit and for educational purposes. Any holder of rights need only contact me, but all the material is in the public domain. I hope you enjoy the talk and subscribe to others on this channel. Comments welcome, of course, but do remember such complex subjects can never have justice done to them in 45 minutes.
