In this video I forge out an 8 inch chef’s knife and a 6 inch camp chef knife. Both blades are forged from 80CrV2 steel, and will have a brut de forge finish. The blades went through three normalization cycles where they were heated to 1600F, 1500F, and 1450F and allowed to air cool between each cycle. The blades were quenched at approximately 1450F in Parks 50 fast quench oil. Afterwards, the blades were tempered twice at 400F for two hours each cycle. In my next video, I will be finishing the blades, constructing handles, and making a sheath for the camp chef knife.
