Hurray! First time in 47 days that I can go to the office because the Covid-19 Movement Control Order as of today has entered its new phase, the so-called Conditional Movement Control Order, allowing businesses to start slowly opening up again.

Rarely have I enjoyed a bicycle ride so much after spending 1½ months virtually in house arrest. Feeling the fresh air, the speed, the freedom - and the good physical workout was a fantastic feeling.

This 8.6 km Brompton bicycle commute takes place on Monday morning 9:40 am (4 May 2020) in central Kuala Lumpur (Bukit Ceylon) and passes through Chinatown, Central Market (Pasar Seni), Brickfields and onwards to the highest hill in Bangsar, namely where my office is. A GPS map of the route is here: https://www.komoot.com/tour/179438697...

During the ride, I narrate in quite some detail about recent talk that I gave on the topic "Environmental Lessons from the Covid-19 economic recession". The lessons are interesting and profoundly important, so I decided to share my 6 slides at the end of the presentation starting from 26:58. Enjoy :-)

I named this video "Thorny Issues", partly because I literally bicycled into some thorny branches than had not been pruned (quite dangerous, actually!) and because of the environmental issues that also will be seen as tricky to solve, for example, irreversible climate change.

Enjoy the video - and stay safe - as we need to avoid the 2nd wave of the coronavirus pandemic while gradually opening up our society again. A delicate balance for sure......!
